We have officially arrived in California and are busy settling into our new apartment.As you might guess, the first fews days (or should I say weeks) have been consumed with painting the walls, assembling furniture and unpacking boxes. Most of these activities went off without a hitch, but as you can see from the pic below, Amanda was almost buried alive in the mound of packing supplies :)
My major project immediately following the move was refinishing three pieces of furniture. Somehow I got the idea that despite having absolutely no experience, he could somehow transform Ikea (relatively low end furniture) into oak. My plan : sand the original finish off and apply a darker stain. Sufficed to say, this was job was not as easy as initially imagined, but I did finish the task and the furniture looks great.
Thats all for now - we're off to get a good nights sleep. I have planned a surprise weekend for us to celebrate Amanda's big birthday on Monday !!!
