- Boarding a plan full of flight attendants wearing surgical masks. I seriously couldn't tell if I was entering a quarantine unit or a non-stop flight to Hong Kong. I guess everyone is taking swine flu pretty seriously these days - which is fine with me - but I told one stewardess that if they were so important, she should have brought enough for everyone. As a concession, I was offered a bag of peanuts.
- My 16 hour flight turned into a 17 hour flight with a delay, which wasn't so bad b/c I was able to get lots of school work done and watch a couple good flicks (Grand Torino). But this meant that my 1 hour lay-over turned into an over night stay in Hong Kong. I guess it runs in the family :) After Amanda's missed connection in Miami, was prepared for this possibility and so I enjoyed my free hotel room.
- Tossing and turning for most of the night. I think I underestimated how hard it is to switch your body over to a new time zone (especially a full 12 hours). More than anything, the experience made me appreciate what Amanda will have to do if she ends up working nights. yikes...
- Waking up with a sore throat and a runny nose. Under normal circumstances, this would not worry me much, but after all of the swine flu precautions, I am now a little worried. But not so worried that I want to be quarantined in Singapore for a full week. So I'm going to rest up and see if I start feeling better in the next couple of days.
